Sampa, Pauliceia, and “The Drizzle Land” are just some of the nicknames of the largest city in the Southern Hemisphere and the third biggest city in the Americas. Sao Paulo is the most important financial center in South America and is surrounded by rivers that fan out into the interior. Immigrants from all over the world have always been a defining part of Sao Paulo; you can still see the influence of Portuguese, Spanish, German, African, Jewish, Arab, and Japanese residents on the daily life and culture of the metropolitan city. It has innumerable art-house cinemas and experimental theaters. The nightclubs and bars are some of the best on the continent and its restaurants rank among the world’s best.

A Vibrant City of Art & Culture 

Considered the street & urban art capital of South America, Sao Paulo showcases countless wide murals and alleys filled with colours, having vivid representations of its culture created by local and well-known international street artists. The city is also famous for offering one of the best nightlife scenes to be found on the planet. There are innumerable art-house cinemas and experimental theaters; tallying more than 100 museums, 120 theaters, and about 300 cinemas.

Exquisite World-Renowned Cuisine 

Known as Latin America’s capital of fine dining, Sao Paulo offers some of the highest standards in international restaurants directed by renowned Brazilian chefs, with several Michelin-star restaurants and some listed in the World’s Best Restaurants. The city also claims the title as Pizza Capital of Brazil, featuring more than 6,000 pizza places around Sao Paulo. 

Parque do Ibirapuera 

One of the largest parks in the whole of Latin America, the Ibirapuera Park immense 158-hectare green space with its monuments, museums, playgrounds, gardens, trails, lakes, and performance spaces is one of the largest parks in the whole of Latin America and an urban oasis for any visitor. It’s a showcase of modern architecture and culture: besides being home to the Auditório Ibirapuera, an ultra-modern music hall designed by Oscar Niemeyer, the park is considered one of Sao Paulo’s best concert venues. 

Avenida Paulista 

Paulista Avenue is Sao Paulo’s center of activity and hotspot for many shops, bars, theaters, galleries, and museums, including the Sao Paulo Museum of Art (MASP), one of the Southern Hemisphere’s most important museums. It has several adjacent parks, like Parque Trianon, (Trianon Park) which provides a foliage- dense oasis right in the city center. The avenue is also host to numerous festivals and celebrations throughout the year. 

Theatro Municipal  

One of the standout postcards of Sao Paulo, the Municipal Theatre is a magnificent theatre is an architectural masterpiece. Its facades and interiors are as elegant as the ballet, orchestra, opera, and concert performances that take place there. Designed by Brazilian and Italian architects, the exterior was inspired by the Parisian opera house, Palais Garnier. Pore over the fusion of Baroque and Renaissance details and admire the arched windows, railings, massive columns, and grand dome.
